Privacy Policy

What we collect

Email address — when you create a Savor account (or previously, when you joined our waitlist before the app launched).
Location — when you search or browse nearby restaurants. Location is accessed only when you grant permission and is never shared with other users.
Saves, visits, and ratings — restaurants you save, mark as visited, or rate inside the app. This data builds your taste profile.

How we use your data

Your data powers your personal taste map and surfaces relevant restaurant recommendations. We use your email to send transactional messages about your account (e.g. sign-in links). We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.

Third-party services

Supabase — database and authentication. Your data is stored on Supabase-managed servers.
Google Analytics — anonymous usage analytics on mysavor.in (web only). No analytics are collected inside the app without consent.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the Savor app. All data is fully removed within 30 days of deletion.

The palate game

The palate game on mysavor.in asks you to react to food cards. From your answers we work out your palate: a few taste scores and a short label (your “archetype”). This section explains what we keep and who can see it.

Before you sign in — your answers, and any diet or foods you tell us to avoid, stay in your browser only. Nothing is sent to us. We also keep a random ID in your browser so a friend can see that someone opened their link. That ID isn't linked to your name, IP address or device.
When you sign in — with Google or Apple, we save your answers, your diet and foods to avoid, the palate we work out, and, if a friend invited you, which link you came from. We also work out how well your palate matches people you follow, people who invited you, and other players who agreed to be found.

Who can see your palate

Always private — your individual answers, and your diet and foods to avoid. We never show these to anyone. Diet and foods to avoid are only used to filter what we recommend to you.
Your palate card — your archetype and top 3 tastes, on a public page with your name and photo. It is on unless you switch it off when you sign in.
Leaderboards and “Eats like you” — other players can see your name, photo, city, archetype and how well you match them, plus foods you both love. This is also on unless you switch it off when you sign in.
Comparing with a friend — when you both play, each of you sees your match and the foods you agree and disagree on most.

You can change both settings at any time in your palate settings. Turning off leaderboards removes you from everyone's lists within about a minute. The game is about food only: there is no messaging and we never show anyone your exact location.

You must be 13 or older to sign in (16 or older where the law requires it).

Invites

Opening an invite link — if you tap “Get the app”, we copy the invite code to your clipboard, only on that tap. The app reads it only if you tap Paste on its welcome screen.
Accepting an invite — we record who invited you and how the invite reached you (a link, a pasted or typed code, or a suggestion you confirmed). The friend who invited you can see that you joined and your first name.
Sharing your invite link — we note that you shared it, when, and through which app (for example WhatsApp). We never see who you sent it to. For 48 hours after you share, a new Savor member in your city may see your name and photo with the question “Did one of these friends invite you?”. Nothing is linked unless they confirm.

Contacts (find friends)

In the Savor app you can optionally sync contacts to see who is already on Savor. This is off until you choose it. DRAFT pending founder/legal review; must stay true to the contactsSync implementation (migration 0187).

What we read on your phone — only names, phone numbers and emails needed to match and invite. We do not read notes, addresses, birthdays or photos from your address book.
What we send to our servers — normalized phone numbers and emails for a one-shot lookup. We hash them to compare with people who opted in. We do not store or log your contact book (match-and-forget).
What we keep — only a secure hash of your verified number (so friends can find you), plus a switch to turn that off or remove the number in Settings → Contact privacy.
Invites — tapping Invite opens WhatsApp, SMS or the share sheet with your invite link. We never message your contacts ourselves — you press Send.
iOS limited access — if you choose Select Contacts, we only see the people you pick. You can add more later from the system picker.

Deleting palate and invite data

Deleting your account in the Savor app (Settings → Delete Account) deletes your answers, palate, matches, palate settings, invite shares, invite records and any contact lookup hash for your number. If you only played on the web, email pranit@mysavor.in from the address you signed in with and we'll delete it. To remove answers saved before you signed in, clear this site's data in your browser.
